Schedule: Schedules will be coordinated with each Service Unit Laboratory Supervisor. Hospitals require 24/7 coverage. Holidays and weekends included. Outpatient clinics are open Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays.
Additional Details about the position
- Laboratory specific orientation, training and competency assessment will be provided by the Service Unit as needed.
- Perform, update and/or review Quality Control, Calibrations, and Maintenance.
- Prepare patients and collect blood specimens utilizing arterial puncture, venipuncture or capillary methods.
- Prepare patients for collection of other specimen types such as urine and stool.
- Process and analyze clinical laboratory specimens using various diagnostic laboratory equipment such as analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
- Review, verify and report patient results.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Familiar with IHS systems such as RPMS, or VistA.
- 5-7 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Phlebotomy is required
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Technician or Clinical Lab Scientist by a recognized certifying body (e.g. ASCP, AMT)
