Travel: All inclusive (provider must cover rental car and lodging) the client will cover IRS mileage rate to and from lodging as the closest lodging is the Red Roof Inn (Discounted monthly rates for travel healthcare providers) in Socorro, NM. Tons of local RV parks.

Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Schedule:

M, Tues, W - 8am-5pm

W - 8am-7pm

F - 8am-3pm

• 1 hr lunch ; 32 hours are guaranteed 

Additional Details:

• This is a position that is half clinical nutrition (mostly diabetes, counseling) and half public health nutrition (early childhood, teaching classes, cooking classes, home visits etc).
• Cannot take a diabetic educator

• Experience with IHS is preferred
• Experience with underserved communities is preferred
• Experience in public health knowledge

ABOUT THE FACILITY

The creation of the Alamo Navajo School Board in 1979 represented the political birth of the Alamo’s leaders. Taking advantage of the 1975 Indian Self-Determination Act, the School Board was able to contract for its own services, and the Alamo leaders began to make decisions for themselves. The concept of self-determination found fertile ground in a community, which knew it wanted a school, health services, and local control, but previously had no vehicle to obtain those things.

The Board now operates the K-12 schools as well as an Indian Health Clinic, Early Childhood Center, Adult Education Program, Roads Department, Technology Department, & Wellness Center.

The Indian Health Clinic acts as principal point of healthcare services to patients of all ages within the Navajo community. Their Healthcare Services include a Pharmacy, Laboratory, Dental Care, Emergency Medicine and a wide range of Family Practice and Primary Care offerings.
