Additional Details about the position
- This position cares for patients before, during, and after angiography, interventional, angiographic cardiac catheterization procedures, and other diagnostic testing and procedures. This includes pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of cath process, post-cath care, and patient education.
- Performs nursing care of the catheterization/angiography cardiovascular patient. Conducts other cardiac diagnostic nursing procedures according to department protocol. Assisting in stress echocardiogram, routine treadmill exam, nuclear and pharmacologic stress testing, tilt table, echocardiograms (NS/Definity), cardioversions, and transesophageal echocardiograms. Assists with prep, procedure, and recovery for other interventional radiology procedures. Evaluates and screens patients for safety prior to performing testing. Provides sedation monitoring in accordance with hospital policy and documents appropriately. Holter monitor application, Event monitor application, and Ambulatory blood pressure monitor application, pacemaker interrogations. Inserts PICC lines and functions as a vascular access expert to meet patients needs. Performs other necessary tasks as assigned by manager.
- Operates equipment and manages supplies, i.e., cardiac output, hemodynamic, pacemakers/ICDs, intraaortic balloon pump, crash cart, IV pumps, defibrillators, point of care glucometer/blood sugar testing, stress machines, and other nursing supplies (Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE/IV etc).
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Cath Lab RN Experience - [REQUIRED]
- Interventional Radiology experience - [PREFERRED]
- 1+ Years of experience in Electrophysiology - [REQUIRED]
- Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation - [PREFERRED]
- Knowledge & operation of intraaortic balloon pump - [PREFERRED]
- Epic EMR Experience - [PREFERRED]
