Additional Details about the position
- Perform, update and/or review Quality Control, Calibrations, and Maintenance.
- Prepare patients and collect blood specimens utilizing venipuncture or capillary methods.
- Prepare patients for collection of other specimen types such as urine and stool.
- Process and analyze clinical laboratory specimens using various diagnostic laboratory equipment such as analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
- Review, verify and report patient results.
- Must be proficient in major areas of the clinical laboratory, such as clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, urinalysis, and molecular testing
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Familiar with IHS systems such as RPMS, or VistA.
- 2-3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Phlebotomy is required
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Two-year associate’s degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Technician by a recognized certifying body (e.g. ASCP, AMT)
