Additional Details about the position

• The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN) delivers both direct and indirect patient care within the medical-surgical unit.
• This role involves close communication with physicians, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team members regarding changes in a patient’s clinical status, including diagnostic results and presenting symptoms.
• The RN demonstrates the ability to respond promptly and effectively to changes in patient condition or treatment response.
• Additionally, the RN performs general nursing duties across various departments under appropriate supervision.
• The Med Surg Registered Nurse may serve as the shift Charge Nurse, assuming leadership responsibilities to ensure safe and effective patient care. In this role, the RN assigns patient care based on staff skill level, experience, temperament, and patient acuity, prioritizing both patient and staff safety.
• The Charge Nurse assists in evaluating the performance and competencies of permanent and temporary staff and communicates effectively with physicians, directors, supervisors, and coworkers regarding changes in patient conditions, including diagnostic results and symptomatology. 
• Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Charge experience highly preferred
• 2 years experience

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

• BLS upon hire
• ACLS, COAP within 60 days

LICENSURE REQUIREMENT 

• TX
