Additional Details:

  • Experience as a pharmacist
  • 200-300 prescriptions a day

Inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and ER pharmacy duties (all in the same building)

  • Manages pharmacy records, inventory control, drug storage, preservation, and controlled substance documentation.
  • Provides pharmaceutical products and clinical pharmacy services to inpatients, outpatients, ER, and field health programs.
  • Reviews and verifies all medication orders, performs medication reconciliation for inpatients and new outpatient prescriptions, and advises medical staff on prescribing practices and drug therapy.
  • Serves as a consultant to the Clinical Director and Hospital Administrator; collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to plan and coordinate pharmacy services.
  • Develops, reviews, and recommends improvements to pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality assurance activities.
  • Provides drug information, education, and training to medical, nursing, and support staff; participates in staff orientation and continuing education programs.
  • Participates in hospital committees and other assigned hospital activities; assumes departmental leadership responsibilities as directed in the absence of the director.
  • Maintains professional competence through continuing education, adheres to safety regulations, and travels to village sites as required.


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BLS - would be a plus
  • ACLS - would be a plus


STATE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • AK License


ABOUT THE FACILITY

This facility includes 21 village clinics that are accredited by Joint Commission and are staffed by Community Health aides. Our Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) plays a very important role in village health services. Our health aides can provide Preventative, Acute, Chronic, and Emergency care within their scope of practice using the Community Health Aide Manual (CHAM) and reporting to a referral Physician at the Kanakanak hospital. They work closely with our case management and assist many other departments that include, but not limited to: Optometry, Audiology, Diabetes, Medical Staff, Dental, and Infant learning to ensure our patients are getting the appropriate and essential care that they need.
