Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive preventive dental hygiene services, including periodontal assessments and treatment.
• Perform cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, periodontal care, and other preventive services.
• Educate patients on preventive oral health, treatment plans, periodontal care, and proper oral hygiene.
• Obtain and maintain accurate medical/dental histories, treatment records, and clinical documentation.
• Maintain treatment recall systems and support continuity of patient care.
• Identify advanced periodontal conditions and coordinate referrals to dentists, specialists, and other providers as needed.
• Administer oral health medications and preventive treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with dentists and the broader multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Support community outreach and oral health education, including programs for children and local communities.
• Assist with quality assurance, audits, infection control, OSHA/HIPAA compliance, and Dental Clinic policies.
• Provide accurate coding, billing, and insurance/pre-authorization support as needed.
• Provide oversight and guidance to ancillary staff performing hygiene-related duties.
• Support the Dental Director with clinic operations and day-to-day dental department needs.
• Maintain professional licensure and participate in continuing education.
• Travel ~ x2 a week by a small plane to village communities to provide dental hygiene services based on community needs and scheduling.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 Years of Dental Hygiene Experience Preferred

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Dental Association, resulting in a Certificate, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene

LICENSURE REQUIREMENT

• Must hold an unrestricted license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Alaska
