Additional Details about the position

• Data Management: Manage electronic (EHR/EMR) and traditional patient records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
• Security & Privacy: Implement policies for data security, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations (HIPAA, state laws).
• System Oversight: Design, maintain, and improve health information systems and technology.
• Compliance & Auditing: Conduct audits to ensure adherence to medical, legal, and accreditation standards (like JCAHO).
• Analysis & Reporting: Generate and analyze reports for clinical, financial, and operational purposes, supporting research and population health.
• Staff & Process Management: Supervise HIM staff, manage departmental budgets, and develop operational strategies.
• Interdepartmental Liaison: Communicate with physicians, IT, and other staff to ensure smooth data flow and resolve issues.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• IHS Experience and familiar with Indian Health
• Expertise in medical coding, data classification (ICD/CPT), and information systems - Preferred
• Strong understanding of healthcare laws (HIPAA) and ethical standards - Preferred
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills - Preferred
• Proficiency in HIM software and MS Office - Preferred

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Experience in HIM roles (Technician, Supervisor).
• Certification (like RHIA, RHIT) is often preferred.
