Additional Information:
- Ensure that the patient receives the correct chemotherapy drug(s), dose, and instructions as prescribed by the oncologist.
- Monitor patient compliance with oral chemotherapy regimens and assess barriers to adherence (e.g., side effects, confusion about dosing schedules).
- Coordinate with pharmacists to ensure proper medication supply and resolve any drug-related issues.
- Assess and monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects related to oral chemotherapy, including nausea, fatigue, gastrointestinal issues, and hematologic changes.
- Perform regular follow-up calls or visits to track the patient's response to treatment and make adjustments as needed in consultation with the healthcare team.
- Document all assessments, interactions, and interventions in patient medical records.
REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification is preferred or required within 6 months of employment.
- Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate preferred or required to obtain within 3 months of employment.
