Schedule: (schedules will be coordinated with each Service Unit Lab Supervisor)
- As far as schedules go, we are flexible. There is an option for working 8on/6off, 4 ten-hour shifts, or 8a-5p M-F.
- If weekends are required, it is always a 12 hour shift, 7am/pm -7pm/am.
Additional Details about the position
- Laboratory specific orientation, training and competency assessment will be provided by the Service Unit as needed.
- Perform, update and/or review Quality Control, Calibrations, and Maintenance.
- Prepare patients and collect blood specimens utilizing arterial puncture, venipuncture or capillary methods.
- Prepare patients for collection of other specimen types such as urine and stool.
- Process and analyze clinical laboratory specimens using various diagnostic laboratory equipment such as analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
- Review, verify and report patient result
- Clinical Lab Scientist must be proficient in major areas of the clinical laboratory, such as clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, microbiology, and molecular testing.
- Clinical Lab Scientist must be proficient at capillary and venous blood collection. Must be able to and interact with a diverse patient range, from newborn to elderly, across hospitals and clinics.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Familiar with IHS systems such as RPMS, or VistA.
- 5-7 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Phlebotomy is required
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Technician or Clinical Lab Scientist by a recognized certifying body (e.g. ASCP, AMT)
